Hard times for Diva

Unfortunately, Nordbjærg's boatyard proved to be a big disappointment.

  • Topside damaged

An inexperienced sailor had secured his winter tarpaulin with cement-filled cans. OD 61, which was parked next to it, was struck by the cans, resulting in over 200 dents on one side of the topsides.

This incident marked the beginning of an uneven battle against a couple of insurance companies. I ended up spending a lot of energy on people and companies who really don’t care about wooden boats like Diva.

  • Deadwood Replaced

After removing the deadwood, we found a sound structure.

Repair was done, but the level of quality was not up to standard.

We fixed several issues with the repairs later on.

  • Ooops

Pencil marks, which were not erased before varnishing, are now part of Diva.

The varnished was stripped of on all topsides and re-varnished. The boatyard had to re-varnish the last layer. 7 new layers were applied. I added 4 more layers the following year.
